To Be In Love

The poem "To Be In Love" is inspired by Hollywood romance. The idea of being in love, and much worse, the idea of not being in love.

To be in love

There are two types of people,

those in love and the others,

who are not in love.

People in love, how they radiate confidence,

and how pleased they are with themselves.

Tall, with splendid beauty, fresh skinned and glossed hair.

How perfect they are,

caught up in romanticism and the idea of eternity.

Roaming freely, oblivious to the mundane, to the unexceptional.

They have forgotten whence they came.

The others, they are not in love.

How they inhabit the shadows,

ghosting, searching.

Their lacklustre faces,

and grunge attire.

How they move about cunningly in the dark,

with recollections of a touch,

and a kiss long passed.

A missing spark.

Oh, to be in love!
