The Ocean

Its undulating, rhythmic ebb and flow

As vast as my imagination

And as dark as the deepest trenches

Its perilous, surging, swelling seas

As ferocious and as loud as a lion

Yet calming, soothing and reliable

Its shallows, rippling and running free

Where mermaids linger along the shores

And friends, pets, seagulls gather

And ice-creams melt

As blue as the rock-pools where urchins hide

As wonderous as a coral reef

As changeable and precarious as a stormy sky

Yet as exciting as love

The ocean
